I was brought up not knowing the Lord. My dad raised us the best he could, but there was no relationship with the Lord in any of my family members. The devil had such a hold on my life that between heavy drug use and violence, I ended up in prison for a second time with a ten year sentence.

It took being incarcerated and losing everything to realize I needed a different way of life. I had never considered giving my life to the Lord, and I decided that at this point it couldn’t hurt… I had NOTHING to lose.

I was getting close to the end of my prison sentence and had no plans as to what I was going to do after being released. I did, however, have a  lot of worries. Mostly, because I had another complete start-over ahead of me. I had no clothes, shoes, vehicle or Driver License, and really no chance to stay clean from drugs. I started praying and begging the Lord for guidance and deliverance from all my worries.

Within weeks of consistently going out on the Rec Yard at prison, a good friend asked what my plans were upon being released. I was honest with him and told him that I had no plans. He then told me about Tony and the Freedom House.  Looking back, I truly believe that was the first opportunity I had to change my life. So I had a choice to make. Completely commit to the Freedom House and surrender to the Lord, or refuse the Lord and continue living under the wrath of God.

I chose to give Tony a call and see what God was really about. 

It was the best decision of my life. God is so good! Tony wore me out with the Gospel, and it started penetrating my heart on levels I never thought possible. Suddenly, things started turning around in my life. I had clothes to wear, boots on my feet and I started wanting a relationship with Jesus. I wanted a godly wife to spend the rest of my life with.

The months started passing by and I was able to get my license reinstated and I purchased a truck. My attitude changed so subtle, that I realized one day, I’m not angry at the world anymore and I found myself joyful. God started answering my prayers in ways I never could have imagined.

I started praying for my family to come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior, and now my little brother has graduated Freedom House too. I feel so blessed to have experienced and successfully completed Freedom House. The Lord knows what’s best for us.

He answered my prayers and blessed me with a godly wife and family. 

If I had never heard of  Freedom House, there is no telling what my life would be like now.

I can tell you one thing though, I wouldn’t have this hope and joy in my life, and I definitely wouldn’t be on the straight and narrow to Heaven.
